The United States pays Filipino nurses the most - $65,000 to $95,000 a year - and the EB-3 route leads to a green card. It is also the hardest and slowest pathway. Here is the step-by-step.

1. CGFNS Certification Program (CCP): credential evaluation plus a qualifying exam. Processing 4-8 months, cost about $445.
2. NCLEX-RN registration: apply to your target state's Board of Nursing, get your ATT (Authorization to Test). Cost about $200 plus a state fee of $75-300.
3. Take NCLEX-RN at Pearson VUE Manila or Cebu - a computer-adaptive test of 75-145 questions.
4. VisaScreen Certificate from ICHP: required for any healthcare worker entering the US. Processing 2-4 months, cost about $540.
5. Employer sponsorship: a US hospital files an I-140 EB-3 immigrant petition. Processing 12-24 months (retrogression possible).

The UK is the number two destination for Filipino nurses and the fastest way into a Western healthcare system. You can pass the CBT in Manila and be working in an NHS hospital within 3-6 months.

NMC registration

1. CBT (Computer-Based Test): available in Manila at Pearson VUE. Cost £83 (~₱6K), pass rate around 70%. Two parts - nursing knowledge and clinical decision-making.
2. OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination): must be taken in the UK. Six stations. Most employers pay flights, accommodation, and the exam fee. Pass rate around 85%.
3. NMC registration: once CBT and OSCE are passed you become a registered UK nurse. Cost £120 (~₱8.5K).

Health & Care visa

• Visa fee £284 (~₱20K), versus £1,400 for a standard Skilled Worker visa.
• NO Immigration Health Surcharge - this exemption saves ₱220K+ over five years.

Canada offers Filipino nurses direct permanent residency. There are two main pathways.

1. Express Entry healthcare draws: the CRS cutoff for healthcare draws is around 467, well below the general 515. A Filipino nurse with a BSN, IELTS 8.0, and 3 years of experience scores roughly 420-450. A provincial nomination adds 600 points.
2. Provincial licensing plus work permit: complete an NNAS assessment and province-specific licensing, work on an LMIA-backed permit, then apply through the Canadian Experience Class.

1. ANMAC skills assessment (qualification verification).
2. AHPRA registration - you may need a Modified OSCE or a bridging program.
3. Subclass 189 visa: direct permanent residency for Registered Nurses on the skilled occupation list.
4. Alternatively, a 482 employer-sponsored visa leading to PR.

Saudi Arabia (Prometric + SCFHS)

• Prometric exam available in Manila; SCFHS registration after passing.
• Deployment in 1-2 months through a DMW-accredited agency.

UAE (DHA / HAAD / MOH)

• DHA for Dubai, HAAD for Abu Dhabi, MOH for the other emirates - exams available in Manila.

Ireland - the emerging option

• NMBI (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland) registration with an Aptitude Test, similar to the UK OSCE.

• English-speaking, EU access, growing Filipino community. Salary €33-45K.

Germany - the Anerkennung pathway

• Recognition (Anerkennung) of your Philippine nursing qualification - you may need a knowledge exam (Kenntnisprüfung) or an adaptation period.
• B1/B2 German is required. Once recognised, you earn the same salary as German nurses (€3-4K/month) and reach PR in 21 months.
• Start German FIRST - the language is the bottleneck, not the qualification.

Japan - the hardest exam

• The Japanese National Nursing Exam is sat in Japanese; the pass rate for foreign nurses is under 15%.
