Credentials

  • Master of Public Policy, Harvard Kennedy School
  • Former Policy Analyst, Migration Policy Institute (MPI)
  • Published in Stanford Law & Policy Review
  • Cited by Reuters, Bloomberg Law, and NPR
  • 8 years covering USCIS data and immigration legislation

About

Sarah is WorkVisa Guide's data engine. She tracks every visa bulletin release, USCIS processing time update, and fee change - often catching shifts before they are widely reported. Her background at the Migration Policy Institute gave her access to the datasets and policy networks that inform our analysis.

Her work at MPI involved analyzing immigrant visa allocation patterns, employment-based backlog projections, and the downstream effects of legislative changes on processing pipelines. She was part of the research team whose data was cited in congressional testimony on green card backlog reform.

At WorkVisa Guide, Sarah publishes the monthly visa bulletin analysis within hours of each State Department release, maintains our USCIS processing time tracker (covering 6 form types), and writes the breaking policy coverage that our readers rely on for real-time immigration intelligence.

David Okafor

Global Mobility Correspondent

Credentials

  • Master of International Relations, London School of Economics
  • OISC Level 1 Certified (UK Immigration Advice)
  • Former Correspondent, The Guardian (Africa desk)
  • Former Reporter, Al Jazeera English
  • 10 years covering migration across 30+ countries
  • Personal immigration experience: Nigeria → UK → Germany → Canada

About

David is the only member of our team who has personally navigated the immigration systems he writes about. Born in Lagos, he moved to London on a Tier 2 visa, relocated to Berlin on an EU Blue Card, and eventually settled in Toronto through Express Entry. Each move taught him what official guides leave out - the real costs, the real timelines, and the mistakes that nobody warns you about.

His journalism career took him across Sub-Saharan Africa, the Gulf states, and Southeast Asia, reporting on labour migration, worker exploitation, and the policies that shape who gets to move and who does not. His investigative reporting for The Guardian on Gulf state labour conditions was shortlisted for the One World Media Awards.

At WorkVisa Guide, David writes our “How to Move to [Country]” series, the nursing abroad guides, and the nationality hub deep dives - always from the perspective of someone who has actually stood in the visa queue, filled out the forms, and waited for the decision.

Elena Müller

European Immigration Correspondent

  • LL.M. European Law, Leiden University
  • Former Policy Advisor, European Commission DG HOME
  • Certified Immigration Advisor, BAMF (German Federal Office for Migration and Refugees)
  • Contributor, Deutsche Welle & Euronews
  • 9 years covering EU immigration and Schengen policy
  • Based between Berlin and Brussels

About

Elena brings an inside perspective on European immigration that no other publication can match. Her three years at the European Commission's migration directorate gave her direct involvement in EU Blue Card reform, Schengen visa digitalization, and the ETIAS framework - policies she now explains to the workers and professionals affected by them.

Her legal training at Leiden (the university where international law was born) specialized in EU free movement, third-country national rights, and the legal architecture of the Schengen area. She passed the German immigration advisor certification (BAMF) to deepen her practical understanding of the system from the applicant's side.

Before joining WorkVisa Guide, Elena reported on migration policy for Deutsche Welle's English service and contributed analysis to Euronews, covering everything from the EU Pact on Migration to Germany's Skilled Immigration Act reforms. She writes with the authority of a policy insider and the clarity of a journalist.

At WorkVisa Guide, Elena covers every European destination - from Germany's Opportunity Card and the UK's post-Brexit Skilled Worker system to Spain's digital nomad visa and the Schengen application process. Her guides are trusted by immigration advisors across the EU as reference material.
